I didn't realise there was such a rule - where is this laid out?
    https://www.gov.uk/individual-savings-accounts/transferring-your-isa:
If you want to transfer money you’ve invested in an ISA this current year, you must transfer all of it.

For previous years, you can choose to transfer all or part of your savings.

Yes, they're right. You need to fill in one of these forms here:

    http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/savings-accounts/cash-isa/transfer

If you have already used your ISA allowance this year/subscribed don't try and open the ISA first, just complete the Loyality ISA form and they will open one.

So let me get this right - if I just fill in the form linked to above, transferring at least £300 from an old cash isa (I may transfer the whole lot as the rate is reasonable), then I'm eligible for the save together bonus £10 per month?

Has is now been established whether the £300 can come straight back out of the ISA and I can leave just £1 in? Sorry if this has been asked before

So long as you also have the Advance Current Account as well and meet its terms and conditions then yes.

    HSBC's site states this:

Eligible payments can include transfers from other ISAs held with us or different providers.

It stands for 'Green' (i.e. you've opted for the green paperless version of the account).

Still waiting to actually receive any paperwork, account details or card. It's been over a month since I applied and about 10 days since I received a letter saying I'd been accepted.

Seriously not very impressed by this, I hope they've been overwhelmed and it's not the level of service that you'd normally expect. Maybe with all the extra checks they're doing the manpower resources just aren't there to process the volume.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

My OH applied about 3 weeks back, last week he got his debit card, but no PIN or anything else.

He has activated the card, set up telephone stuff, and now THINKS he has registered for internet banking.

He has an account to switch and will ring them on Monday to start that as it seems to need a long phone call.

Can he apply to open the Loyalty ISA meantime, or does he need to wait till the switch is done?

Also, when does he need to start paying in the £1750 per month?

Don't want to get the £1750 stuck in the account if he has not done the internet bit properly. I presume he needs this secure key thing to move money around?

It does all seem very complicated and painfully slow.
