I'm in the same boat. But I'm thinking just paying 300 lump sum as twelve months of 10 would take you to next financial year and confine your next isa to hsbc.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
Anyone know if this rumour has foundation? Would tip the balance for me applying.
I applied for the HSBC Advance account in branch and the advisor told me that - if I applied at the same time for their credit card - they wouldn't run a 2nd credit check. Not sure what happens if you apply for the CC a couple of days after opening the Advance acct though.
I was approved for the HSBC Advance account, then went through the switch process; I switched my secondary bank account and a cash ISA from First Direct to HSBC. I didn't apply for the HSBC credit card though, I have enough credit cards. :cool:0 -
this makes complete sense as they would just get the same information again on the 2nd check.gentlewoman wrote: »I applied for the HSBC Advance account in branch and the advisor told me that - if I applied at the same time for their credit card - they wouldn't run a 2nd credit check.
It's pretty safe to assume that a full credit check would be carried out for a later application for the CC.gentlewoman wrote: »Not sure what happens if you apply for the CC a couple of days after opening the Advance acct though.
In many cases, the number of credit checks won't make much of a difference to anything. Credit checks are only of potential relevance if you are planning to make further credit applications in the next 6 or so months.0 -
Cool...I will end up with just a HSBC Advance and FD Current by Sept probably - the isa situ is correct I would be trapped into HSBC next year....but I'll just transfer eventually....0nly concern is I want one of those regular first time buyer isa's where you get 3k of the government0

Not sure I follow? It's 12 months of £25 a month isn't it? Whether you put in a lump sum of £300 or deposit £25 each month they still only pay you £10 a month.I'm in the same boat. 12 months of £10 = hsbc isa offer = £120 paid to me0

Quite. But they'll pay that for 12 months whether you pay £300 upfront or £25pm, so I don't get johnk's point either.FIRSTTIMER wrote: »12 months of £10 = hsbc isa offer = £120 paid to me0
