I was accepted on 7th July, got signature form and returned on 8th July - not heard anything since?...is this normal?

Also - just clarifying - is everyone applying for ISA and switching after accounts open?

Also - is it normal to get a cheque book/paying in book as standard?! I want neither!

    Thanks Guys

I was accepted about the same time and have also heard nothing further. I'm glad I don't actually intend to use this as my main account... I appreciate that they're inundated with applications but they should have anticipated that.

In the online application it asks whether you want a debit card, cheque book etc. (I declined everything), presumably they ask the same questions when you apply in branch or by phone?

If my account is ever opened I will then arrange the switch and open the ISA and regular saver. Will also apply for the credit card for the £25 (rumour has it they don't credit check you again, so why not?).

If your an existing HSBC current account holder, could you close the account, open an Advance account and then be eligible for the offer?
I can't find in the T+C's a date at which you must not have been a customer?

I have the regular savings account which has 6 payments, so I'd lose the interest accumulated if I closed the current account, £27 I think.

I don't know the answer, but I definitely would not risk it with HSBC. You might find you 'no longer fit their customer profile'

Would an existing customer still be entitled to the ISA offer as long as they had an Advance account?

As per the switching offer T&Cs, you can't hold an HSBC current account at the time you apply for the Advance.

So in theory there's nothing to stop you closing your account and re-applying during the offer period to get the switching incentive. HOWEVER their Advance account criteria appears to have been tightened-up and going by this thread lots more people are getting rejected than accepted - there's no guarantee they'll accept you back as an Advance customer.

    .

It could be that people who are accepted don't bother to report it on this thread

Pretty much in the same boat. Not heard anything since returning the form on ether the 7th or 8th.

I will open the ISA and regular saver.
