First Utility Early Exit Fees
Has anyone had any experience of First Utility and early exit fee charges?
My current fixed tariff with FU ends on 31st July and there are early exit fees of £60.
Am I right in thinking you can't be charged these if you switch less than 59 days before the end of the fixed term?
If I am correct in thinking that, has anyone ever had an issues with FU and being charged the early exit fees when they shouldn't be?
Thanks in advance.

42-49 days is the regulation .
But FU are a law unto themselves0 -
49 Days is the limit but yes you are correct, at this point you can leave with no cost.
Never been with them but most companies have an entirely automated system that is fairly foolproof so I should think you would be fine.0 -
Thanks both.
I want to switch now as I could save money and don't want my fixed rate to end then be paying over the odds before I get a switch done.
I will risk it and as I am in credit with FU I hopefully won't have to fight too hard to get a refund.
Thanks again.0 -
If you move to a new fixed tariff with FU themselves that ends later than the tariff that you are currently on there are no exit fees to pay at all at anytime.
I have done this several times in 15 months constantly moving to a cheaper 12-16 month fixed tariff on each occasion.0 -

Same here, i always check their site at the start of the month to see what the new fixed deals are like.0 -

I'm sticking with May16 (v3) for now, as all subsequent 12-15 month fixes seem to be now drifting higher. If this trend continues I'll see next winter out and switch again next March-May ??0
