Difference between these 2 Hard drives please?

Options
Hi I have been looking for an external hard drive to back up my laptop. I was going to use my Tesco Clubcard points.

There are 2 that I think will do the job but I can't tell the difference between them.
Could someone please have a quick look for me so that I get the better one?

Thanks. I guess the free software would take up quite a bit of space on the HDD and maybe restrict me to how I can use it. (such as connecting it to the TV to watch films)

    thanks for the input

the software is loaded on the drive instead of giving you an install disk , every time I buy pendrives with this , I delete it and just use manual methods of copying data , the freeby stuff is for non skilled people , and automates it ,

If you have a Costco near you (and access to a card) these are £25

If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.

Thanks I saw that, but no cosco and no card. I can buy the one I've seen for £22 worth of Tesco clubcard vouchers which makes it quite good value.

So, are they basically the same except the software?
One supports Cloud backup facilities ... is that a plus?

are you going to be using it for cloud backup , backing up your laptop or using it to store films to be shown on your TV?

    Are they both 2.5" drives?

Why do they list the dimensions for one and not the other?

One maybe formatted to FAT 32 but what about the other? Will you be storing large files on it? Files over 4GB?

For the first one they use the term 'highly portable', that is normally used for 2.5" drives without a power supply.

However, reviews for the second one say that it doesn't need a power supply either, i.e. is 2.5" too.

IMO, Tesco Direct is one of the most incompetent and unprofessional online retailers.

They'll both be 2.5 drives for sure - you can tell just by looking at the aspect ratio of the case plus there is no mention of an external power supply which a 3.5 drive would need.

Formatting is irrelevant as they can easily be reformatted.

At the moment I need it to back up my laptop as it's on the blink (keeps shutting down.)
I don't really know what cloud is.
At the moment I don't store films.. I tend to record and delete once watched. I have videos of the children that I would like to store.

You're right. I have had trouble in the past but I have always managed to get it sorted..

So it seems that either one will do... unless there is a better one here?
