    Is your son's father paying maintenance? If not, have you been in contact with the CSA - or rather the organisation that has taken the place of the CSA. Maintenance for your child is disregarded when assessing Income Support.

    For the time being, you could have a cot for your son in your room and your grandparents could let out the other room to a lodger?

    Would your grandparents be able to offer some childcare, even if only in the evenings, so that you could work?

    As others on here I am not sure why you and your 9 month old son need to "block" 2 rooms in your grandparents house when they themselves are struggling financially? You two could easily share one room and they could keep the other rented out and keep the income
