Statutary redundancy?

My Father in law was informed today that his company is going into liquidation and that he was redundant from the end of the day. As they are going into liquidation he isn't getting any form of payout. Is there any sort of 'statutary redundancy' payment he can apply for. He's actually worked there for over 40 years and is only 7 months from hitting 65 but will he get anything to see him through to this point?

He does have about 70k in pension but it would be a shame if his lump sum was eroded by having no income for 7 months especially as he had intended to continue work beyond 65 at maybe 2 days per week but the chances of a guy who can barely walk (dodgy back) and has never switched on a computer in his entire life getting a new job probably isn't great.
