Has my friend made a mistake ?

Hi all,

My friend works for a bank.

He has been silly by sending 4 ems anonymously (via a pseudo email account) to an incompetent manager. Bless him, he quite rightly blames the death of his mother on this idiot as she realised he has not well due to his manager making him ill. She noticed his ill health just before her death.

I can't provide too much detail for obvious reasons.

He has got a em from HR to advise that the company is involving the police with regards the ems and he may be disciplined with D&G if it is proven the ems came from him. I don't know why because I have seen the ems, there are no threats or expletives and he is just stating facts; namely that the manager was on cocaine (in his younger days) and he run a company without getting any agreement from J P Morgan when he created the company name.

I have told him to ignore what HR have told him as I cannot believe that the police will be seriously interested as he has not made any threats or innuendos.

By the way, he will simply resign if they invoke D&G but I can't see this happening. IMHO, the manager appears to totally incompetent.

Can anyone please advise.

Is this you again? You know who I mean. The person who has been constantly posting about their "incompetent" manager in a bank. They caught your emails and posts did they?


Either way - anonymous harassment, bullying and threats by email are a cowards way. I sincerely hope they catch your "friend" and dismiss him. It sounds like your "friend" is a bully and a nightmare to work with. There are people who want work who deserve to have jobs - I hope one of them gets the vacancy when your "friend" is dismissed.


And it wasn't a mistake - it was a deliberate cowardly action by a bully.

This bit makes little sense, how would an incompetent manager at a bank be responsible for the death of a colleagues mother? I don't understand.

What fact was he stating? can these be corroborated?

If it goes to disciplinary then resigning may not be enough, and we cannot comment on the likelihood of police involvement as we don't know what was said.

So please explain how an incompetent manager led to the death of a colleagues mother? Was it murder? poisoning? Hit and run?

Are you related to this chap over here - same reference to J P Morgan so assume you are. It's funny on the below thread it was a friend wanting to set up a company and now it's a friends boss who did it.

Ah sorry ......yes of course he should ignore the threat of D&G (what ever that is) .........and yes sending those sort of emails was the most appropriate adult thing to do

His IP is all they need to trace it back to him and gross misconduct is the very least of his troubles (Google the new laws on internet trolling), the Police will be more than interested in the matter - maybe advise him to emigrate to a Country that will protect him from UK law.
