Two Dart Charge fines even though we paid?

Hi all,

So my mum was getting dropped off to Gatwick by my stepdad. The car though Dartford twice. My stepdad has a receipt of him paying both crossings on the same day (this was on the 20th of April, and him and my mum are not familiar with Dart Charge, I am :D. I show them how to use it.) The car is my stepdads. At the beginning of June, we got one letter about the first crossing. Another letter about the second crossing came about a week ago. I checked the registration of the car on the Dart Charge website and it has two fines registered against it: both on the 20th of April. So annoyed

My stepdad says if he has to go to court he will show the reciept. Any suggestions about the letters? What do we do in the meantime?

Have you tried following the instructions on the penalty notice for appealing the penalty - (ground D) within 28 days of receipt of the notice.
  • No but I will ask my stepdad. What could happen if we ignore the letters? Will they use debt collectors to threaten us? Like they do with PCNs?

BBC Watchdog covered this issue on 25 June. Check their website and it should have more information and contact details.

Your problem is not for here.

As we tend to major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council and related tickets. Here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate).

PePiPoo has an excellent success record in dealing with council tickets.

Sorry we can't help here. But you're better with real expertise than speculative guesses, that could lead you up a one-way street!

    PePiPoo will look after you.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
