Ideas for a media PC

I've just been lumbered, er asked to sort out a media pc for my parents to take out to them in Spain when we go in just over 2 weeks.
Their needs are:
Ease of use (this is more for my benefit or I will end up spending hours on the phone
)
Streaming, probably Netflix or similar
Occasional internet browsing, Skype etc
They have a desktop so I can stick another HD in their to use as storage so I was thinking a fanless unit with ssd would do but I don't know what to suggest for the OS. I use Linux but I think they would be more comfortable with Win 7 as that is what they are used to and maybe upgrade both to Win 10 later in the year.
Any thoughts people?

I've just spoken to them again, it seems they just got a new TV so a VPN router is probably the way to go, that'll solve an ongoing problem with Sky on Demand as well.
If they want to skype they have a desktop and two tablets they can use0
