Notice period of temp work

I started a new job Monday, (I found it through an agency but not employed by them) as a temp with a contract for 12 weeks.
My question is, how much notice do I give if I find another job that is permanent? My contract states a month, and they have to give me a weeks notice, but surely that is if I have a permanent contract?
I've googled as you do but I've found conflicting information.

I'd say none in first 4 weeks especially, but then if you have a contract whether temp or perm that's also a good reference to be fair longer time goes on, you know if you want to keep on the right side of everybody and are being given holiday pay etc as that really goes a long way, though my experience has been you can leave a temp job within hours and I've honestly really never had any hassle leaving, in the end it was the only bonus with temping probably as regretfully the sword could fall either way so perhaps that is why it's less agro

One of my nicest temporary contracts was one intended to be 12 weeks, same as yourself not under agency - I was allowed to leave same day as asking and turns out they paid me till the end of that week, which I was really surprised at and can only think possibly they intended to give me notice and I just got there first or something to do with back commission, makes me wanna eat my words sometimes! sorry if I've bored you but wanted to reassure often it turns out alright x0 -
im not sure they will be able to enforce a months notice on a 12 week co tract, especially as they say they only have to give you a week?0

I think the contract I was given was for a permanent job hence why the holidays, holiday pay and period of notice were on. Only my letter states I'm temp not my contract.
Reading up on it, as much notice as possible is ideal, but if you leave say 445 Friday as you've another job Monday that seems to be ok.
I've a sniff of another job as depending if I feel this is more 'me' I'll finish my temp one.

If you have a contract as a temporary employee then you are automatically entitled to paid leave. You don't have to be considered "permanent" to have that right.
As you are expected to be employed for 12 weeks, you are entitled to written particulars of employment. Those particulars should include information about notice periods and holiday entitlement (amongst other things). Though it may not appear fair for them to be able to give you one week's notice when you have to give a month it is not unlawful and you could be held to giving a month's notice.0 -
I had a temporary contract in my last but one job and still had to give a month's notice. It's just normal.0
