Have transferred the Tesco balance to my PO 15 month 0% card to avoid having to pay interest. I now need to wait for the transfer to go through before I can work out who is getting what to make sure both are paid off in the spring.
OH has been banned from using the CC. Its only to be used for diesel, so it will only be allowed out when we go to fill up with fuel. I think I am going to put the credit limit down to £500, its £1000 at the moment.0 -
Just wondered if you had considered applying for pension credit OP. Its not that difficult to apply and I think you can do it over the phone. It depends on your circumstances but if you were awarded it then you would probably get housing benefit too. Just a thought. I hope you are enjoying your new house.0

Hi WTGGT, unfortunately we do not qualify for pension credit as we both have workplace pensions and also a small private pension each. We already get HB and CT benefit, OH gets attendance allowance too. This is one of the reasons we applied to the local council for housing, we were paying £200 a month more in private accommodation. The money is going towards paying off the moving debt and OH's mad garden centre spree.0

I work for pension credit, just so you know attendance allowance income isn't taken into account for pension credit entitlement, I don't know if that would change if you were entitled or not though

No it does not make any difference, we still have too much coming in each month, disregarding the AA, HB, and CTB.0

Weather forecast is for snow next month. I need to sort out emergency rations, winter is coming and preparation is needed.
I need at least a month supplies, food, coal and wood in stock, so starting from now building up a stock of tinned, dried or frozen stuff, and ordering more coal and wood. We live in the country, so need to be prepared in case we are unable to get out due to the weather conditions.
It's not going to do my debt reduction much good in the near future, but come the spring, we should be able to have a month when all we need to buy is fresh milk and veg.0 -
Not posted for a while, things have gone a bit pear shaped, I have had to buy a new washer, my other one went phut, so will have to trim the payments to the CC's next month, will pay the minimum to the PO cc but will have to pay a bit more to Lloyds if I want to clear the balance within 6 months. Our heating allowance comes in next month most of that will have to go to the CC's to keep us on track.
I need to keep my fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong or needs replacing.0 -
Just done an update of my signature, cards going down nicely. Have another problem looming, needs thinking about.
We have an open fire which is not very cost effective. We live in a council bungalow and have to be careful what we do, council would not allow us to put in a multifuel stove to fire central heating. But I have found out that there is a stove that can be inset into an ordinary fire place, so you do not have to take the fireplace out. If its no longer required it can just be taken out. So estimate obtained......now do I put the cost on My Tesco CC and then transfer it to my PO CC interest free for 18 months or.....wait until I have saved the cash up???? Decisions.0
