  • Hi Angeleyes - just seen this thread - you've done loads so far and congrats on paying off the first debt - it's a great feeling.

It is tough thinking about making cutbacks, but I can honestly say there is very little that i have cut back on that i genuinely miss as much as i thought i would. I found this site in Feb of this year and was quite gutted at the time at the suggetsions that were made about how to cut back - however, I can say that on the whole people were absolutely spot on!

In terms of sky, i would think pretty much everyone on here has at least one luxury that is important to them that they keep on with and find a way of paying for through their budget whilst paying off the debts - for me, i set a budget (using moozies/paps thread) and my luxury is going out for a drinks/coffee/ocasional meal with friends - do to this i've given up gym, buying new books, nearly all shopping trips and so on.

Just wanted to add a voice of encouragement - and congratulations on your wedding as well. Am getting married in a few months now, and can really appreciate that even though we're trying to do it MSE way that costs can build.

    Keep going! (and posting)

Well done on getting the second job. Have you re snow balled your debt so that you can see what a difference it will make to your debt free date?
Also just wondered what you OH pays for? You say that the credit is in your name, but surely he benefitted from the food, petrol, house upgrading that went on your cards?
Can he not help out more in this case? Have you thought about doing a joint house budget that helps you BOTH to pay off your debts?

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hello Angel eyes, I'm a debt case worker at the CAB. First thing, never fear going to the cab, they( we) are here to help you not to judge you ! - seems that you are tring to control your budget but there are 1 or 2 things to adjust as others have mentioned.

However your debt is overwhelming you, and action is called for. First thing I would want to know is how much equity in the property ? People do not always lose their house in bankruptcy, but usually do. If you can ( by not paying creditors ) get £ 100 per month together you may be able to enter in to an IVA. your house will be protected in this and you might havr to pay back only 30% of what you owe.

I do not have enough info to say anything further, debt management is tailored to the individual, please go to the cab, and if an IVA is right for you, only go to payplan ( www.payplan.com ) to arrange it.

    Good luck.
