Cashing cheques - is there a time limit

Can anyone give me some advice, please?
I've just a found a couple of cheques dating back to February 13. I forgot to cash them - I know, I must have more money than sense!
Is there a time limit on cheques? If I took them to the bank tomorrow, would I be able to cash them?
Thanks in advance.

It depends on the cheque. Often, the interval is written on the cheque itself. The intervals vary from 30 days to 90 days to 6 months.
You may get away with it if the banks do not notice the dates.

Thanks. Guess what. Today's exactly 6 months! So, if I take them in tomorrow, it'll be 6 months and a day. Let's hope they don't notice!0

They started putting 6 months in to their terms and conditions for some reason, I suppose because the person who wrote it is likely to forget about it after a while and may be angry about incurring charges. But technically there is no reason why they cannot accept it, I used to work with in a bank a long time ago (1988) and as I recall it was 6 years then, but I might be getting that mixed up with something else. There is an Act of Parliament about it, a very very old one. James0
