in Credit cards
I have an MBNA card that I don't use very much. I tease MBNA by using their card heavily for several consecutive months, and then I stop using it completely. After a few months, they get a bit twitchy and they start offering me incentives to try and get me to resume using their card again.
This time, they are offering me a free flight to a choice of European destination, if I spend £250 on the card this month. Has anyone else been offered a free flight? I wonder if it's worth it. Is it a real perk, or does it come with conditions, like a free flight but you pay all the airport taxes, or only if you also buy insurance and hotel accommodation from them, or it's really free but you have to depart from some very remote airport? They don't say much in their letter.
UPDATE: I've just found the answer to my own question after reading the small print on the back. Turns out it's probably not worth it. To get the "free" flight you have to pay all the taxes, and you need to book at least three nights accommodation with them and buy insurance. I can probably get a much better deal myself elsewhere, even if I do pay for the flight. So, MBNA please make your incentives more appealing if you want your customers' business.
