What size is my outdoor tap?

I want to change my outdoor tap for a one with a double-check valve, but how does one determine the size I need to order? There’s not much point in removing the tap and taking it with me to a supplier as there are none where I live. I need to order online. I can see that internet forum is awash with people who have got into compatibility issues with taps, connectors and hoses and I would like to get this right first time. So I’m wondering, can anybody tell me what part of my existing tap do I need to measure, bearing in mind I wish for it to remain in situ until I’m ready to do the swap? Measuring a diameter is going to be awkward.
I have included some photos in the hope it may assist. If anyone has seen this style of tap I would be glad to be told where, the only ones I have seen online are with the brass hose union for bare hose connection. I would prefer just the thread as I have now.
Many thanks

This tap has 1/2" cast into the side. I'm pretty sure thats the thread size. The hose nozzle is removable leaving a thread as you have now.
You're likely to need this. http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-PTFE-Tape-12mm-x-12m/p/420188
Not specifically recommending these items or Wickes. They are just examples.0 -
Yep standard 1/2 inch outdoor tap, can't believe you can't get one locally any hardware, agricultural, plumbers or builders merchant would have one.0

Don't forget water regs require a check valve to be used you can buy bib taps with them built in0

Thank you guys. With the sunshine streaming in, it's impossible to see the subtle colour difference of the text! Excellent.0
