Motorcycle theft

Long story - I'll be brief and try not to rant.
Bought a new motorcycle (new rider), and bike and licence registered to my address at the time (which is a property owned by a family member). At the same time, I started a new job and moved into rented accommodation. The insurance for the bike policy was made out to my work address, where the bike is kept at least 5 nights of the week.
At the start of June, I was back at my permanent address, and there was an attempted theft on the bike (steering lock forced, ignition wiring pulled). I called the insurers and had the bike collected later that day, after making a police report. It took another week before I could be called by the insurer's theft dept (pointless phone call, but bike sent to garage). Another week before the garage called with both good news (the claim had been approved) and bad news (the est. completion date was 7 weeks away).
A week ago, my insurers emailed to say that my insurance was being cancelled in a week because I had failed to provide the supplementary information (scan of driving licence). I wrote back to say this had already been supplied, and forwarded them the email. Next word from them was that the address with the DVLA wasn't the same as the bike's overnight address. I was told that I should contact the DVLA to change the address (which I have not done as the new address is temporary) and then supply them with scans of the revised photocard. I had to do this in 5 days, or the policy would be cancelled.
I called them three times today, not having any calls returned, having to explain the situation repeatedly, and being put on hold for inordinate amounts of time. At the end of play today the phone operator was rushing to call the underwriters before 5pm to see if they could extend the insurance until the new licence was issued. I have not heard back and I am going to call them in the morning.
The insurance is scheduled for cancellation tomorrow, and the bike is still held with the garage. I have done a preliminary quote for replacement insurance, and the premium is increased 5 fold. What are my options here? Any responses would be greatly appreciated (and thanks for reading this)
