multi-fuel stove installation

Options
Hi
We're hoping to get a multi-fuel stove put in to our modern house. We will need to get a flue put in right up and out the roof, and hope it is a nice feature to have it exposed right up to the lounge ceiling!

We obvioulsy need a hearth, but does anyone have ideas for what we put behind the stove to stop the wall from catching fire? One way is to take the existing plasterboard etc down and replace with fireproof stuff, but is there an easier way that will still look nice?

Thanks

Shoan

Multifuel meaning Wood/coal? and a new chimney/flue internally up through 2 stories and out through the roof??

We had the chimney lined with stainless steel lining and the chimney where the stove sits is on black slate and the wall back and sides are cement rendering and painted white

Yeah - the ideas is the flue will go straight up and through the attic. It is double skinned or something to be safe.

Does the cement render meet the building regs? I found them, but can't really make enough sense of them to try and come up with some ideas!
