A few months ago there was a lengthy thread about someone posting his dashcam footage of 'idiot drivers'. I can't find it now but is it just me that recognises these voices?!

Not a fan of those van operators at all....... For the simple reason that the real Police don't give a damn if your 5mph over the limit, but those Talivans are just out making money. Money which goes to the local camera partnership (which are private firms), so that the directors/managers can all drive around in fancy £80'000 motors at the public expense.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The guidelines below are in use by all forces in England and Wales as far as i know and they apply to mobile camera operators like the one in the video as well as police. All your base are belong to us.0 -

1. The fines actually go to the Treasury. The partnerships are funded by grants, not fines.
2. They're not private companies, but "multi-agency partnerships".0 -

Whatever you want to call them, they make A LOT of money for certain individuals.
The people that get caught my these cameras are mostly people who don't know the area and around by me at least, they put these cameras in locations where they're aimed at catching people who've simply strayed onto the wrong road.
For example a 30mph village (fine no problem), but the limit then extends 2 miles into a perfectly wide/straight country A road with no further repeater signs and nothing to suggest the speed limit is 30, people who don't know the road always think "I must have missed the speed limit sign", then overtake those doing 30, head over a hill and find a camera parked up. There are countless other areas like this around here, they seem to be perfectly setup, a collaboration between local planning and the local "safety partnership", i'd bet there's some money changing hands at the local Golf course.
As for the real Police, they take a much more realistic view, I myself overtook a Police car at 60mph on a 50 dual carriageway, because I was stuck out in the RH lane and people were bunching up to the Police vehicle to stop me pulling in.
In this instance the Police likely saw what was going on and had no issue with me speeding in order to prevent an incident further down the road at the merge, the local scamera partnership however would not have been so kind.
On the other hand, some kid come handbrake turning across the road, what are the speed cameras going to do? I want to see the REAL Police out there.
Baiting people into breaking the law is not Policing, it's a scam and people who support it are brainwashed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If there are streetlights and no repeaters then if you get caught speeding then you need to read the highway code again. If there are no streetlights and no repeaters then you will have a defence.
Also this idiot on the video talks twaddle. There is no law requiring warning signs for cameras.0
