in Credit cards
hi,can someone advise me if this is right or not,my girlfriend took out a capital one credit card, it had a £200 security deposit the card limit was £200she got into a little debt and couldnt pay it and it was sent to a debt agency after fees its now gone to £350 which she is now paying off, my question is capital one wont return the £200 deposit, if they would of takin the £200 of what she owed when they cancelled the card it would of been more manageable, has the money gone forever or is there a way to get it back of them, any help in locating the cash would be great,

tried that, they use a call centre abroad, after trying to get them to understand what we was trying to say(no disrespect meant to them), they just said we cant have it back, even though I dont think she understood what we was saying, plus the banks said that you cant have charges back and look what happened, just a little irked that we,ve lost the same amount we borrowed thats, some bonus for someone, even loan sharks dont have 100% pay back,0

They have to give it back to her it is her money, the whole point of it was to offset it against the debt in these circumstances. I would find an address for their head office and write to them there, they are not the most willing of company's to take things on over the phone (unless you are applying for a card), saying that using www.saynoto0870.com I call 08009525102 (I would check it on that site), it is listed as complaints. If you call after 9am it is answered by a person (before 9 it just says please wait in the queue and no one answers) and they are in the UK. I have been using it for months just for general queries, but be ready to quizzed about where you got the number and be told you should dial something else in future, although in this case as the matter is something they want you for they might be more willing to listen. Good luck. James0

I would also claim back your charges at the same time. Seems they could end up owing you money! Remember if you claim through the FO it is long and drawn out but it is free. You could also claim the deposit at the same time. Don't think they will argue with them!!!!!!!!!0
