New Build Burglar Alarm

Hi All,
Just had Familiarisation visit for a new build Taylor Wimpey home.
There are wires hanging around. When asked what it is for the builder said it was for burglar alarm if needed. So all the wiring is done but no alarm and would have to pay for this.
Nowhere has it been said that there would be a burglar alarm or wiring for one. The wiring is rather unsightly!
Not sure if we want one or not at present, but feeling like have to get one. Or could we get them to unwire?
Any advice?
Thanks

Are they wires hanging down in the corners of rooms - ready for connecting to PIR movement detectors?
If so, they can either be pushed back into the partition void, or snipped off, and the hole made good with a bit of filler.
i.e. It's a very small job to get rid of the wires. But it would be difficult to get the wires back, if you decided that you wanted an alarm later on.
It's probably best to ask the builder about getting them removed.0 -
Good grief! Be grateful you've been given the option!
If you don't want an alarm either snip off the wires or better still push them out of site. A touch of plaster to cover them maybe? Keep a record of where they are - it's a good selling point if/when you come to sell.0 -
Built-in alarm wiring is a very useful thing to have in my opinion.
To tidy up disconnected wiring, you could buy and fit the various kinds of sensors yourself, but not bother installing a control panel or sounders yet. Wired alarm sensors are quite cheap (under £10 each) if you shop around - they tend to be cheaper than the wireless variety.0 -
Thanks for the feedback and advice.
Theres a roll of tidied up wires near the front door entrance and a few wires hanging down scattered around the house.
Best take a closer look and make a decision.0 -
