I was painting the door frames today and i dont know how i did it but i have got gloss paint on my wifes handbag
i have tried washing it off with hot water but it just smudged and made the stain worse. The bag looks like it is leather and its made by someone called Kate Spade or that is the owner of the bag and my wife nicked it. I will be banished from the the bedroom if she finds out i've destroyed another handbag of hers. The last bag was accidently caught by the strimmer. Help me please

1) be more careful in future
2) Everyone knows you don't use water to clean oil based paints - so don't put your paint brushes in water to clean them either.
3) white spirit on a cotton bud and be damn careful incase it pulls the dye from the leather. You may be better off paying for a specialist.#KiamaHouse0 -
If you had posted on the DIY forum, I would have answered. If it smudged the white spirit should shift it, but it is probably too late now. Although white spirit could cause further issues with the leather and you might have to wait a week to see if this resolved itself.
But as you have posted on the relationship forum, there is nothing to be done apart from negotiate the terms of a divorce.0 -
Pay for a flight to New York so that she can buy a new one, and don't forget to give her your credit card and PIN number.0

Just pick it off?
Or paint it over, the same colour as the bag. She'll never notice0 -
Just gloss over the issue.0

is the paint a water-based gloss or an oil-based gloss?
meths for water-based & turps for oil-based is s good start. on a cotton bud as already suggested. if color of the base leather has shifted, you'll need to next touch up with a colored wax shoe polish, then finish off with leather restorer/nourisher. job done.
do you have a pic of the crime?0 -
