kindle not playing through hdmi cable

I have a kindle hd fire and been watching showbox through hdmi cable to tv for past few months, not a problem, then all of a sudden it stops working and eveery time we try to play something
this comes up on screen:-
"unsupported signal adjust your pc output"
Can anyone help, have no idea on what it means

That's your TV telling you that it doesn't like the signal it's receiving. Strange if nothing has changed. Are you sure the Kindle's video is actually outputting, and do you have a different TV you can try it on?0

Hi yes the video is playing through the kindle and it was working fine last week, we havnt changed anything that we know of, it is strange.
We do have another tv, will try it and see what happens.0 -
It could be the cable needs replacing, they all wear out at some point.0
