Not really desirable or practical here.

There is a CAPTCHA and email confirmation required here before you can post. Most bots and and humans quickly work out how to do those though, and they usually only deter the very very very dumbest of automated spam.

The board is not 'infected'. It's just being spammed which is a different thing. And besides, the weekly email data base is separated from the forum one according to the team, so those eggs are not all in one basket.

That is so narrow minded. Even on your argument that it is a British forum, there are at least 3 languages you have left out. And there may be legitimate situations in which posters may wish or need to use non Latin characters.

At the end of the day, the proposed solution is born out of understandable frustration but only addresses the symptoms not the causes. If you ban foreign characters, they will be back with something else.
