Beds...beds...beds...

Hi,

I need 3 double beds for my new house. I want someone who will deliver quickly (in next 2 weeks), assemble them and change the mattress if it does not suit us. Does anyone have any recommendations.

I have looked at the obvious ones that come up on google like Dreams & IKEA. But not sure if I they are good quality or not.

I get mixed messages about IKEA beds. Is it all that bad?

Please help me...recommendations, advice, tips anything.

Thanks

Have a look at Warren Evans beds: http://www.warrenevans.com/index.php. However don't know if that is what you are looking for as they may be a bit pricey. However 5 star, personal service and they put the beds together for you.

I'm not a huge fan of Ikea. Some of it is great but other bits are rubbish

Is there not a local bed shop nearby. My Mum got some from a small family run firm and they were fantastic. Delivery was within a couple of days

I live in London and I dont know if the small family run businesses actually survive. The ones who do, are quite expensive. But I will have a look around.

    I have an argos bed.

It's not the best bed ever but it suits us. You do get what you pay for. They won't assemble them for you though

I am a great fan of IKEA beds! I know a lot of their stuff is a bit tatty but the beds are great .. Their double beds are an extra 3 inches long which makes them feel bigger all round for some reason I can't explain. Our own bed cost a fortune elsewhere (don't ask) and is great but I get an equally good night sleep on the double in the spare room. Everyone who has stayed over comments on what a comfy bed it is. One thing though, I've always bought the metal frame beds, both traditional & modern. I use IKea's plain cotton fitted sheets that allow for a really deep mattress. I use the arched type slats and always a the best mattress I can afford at the time and a separate mattress pad. See, I'm a bit fussy so I also use good quality pillows (usually from costco) and only cotton duvets covers.

Sleep, is important so a comfy bed is too, and it's the finished package that matters. Also put one in a buy to let - which also seems to be appreciated.

You can try the mattresses out at the store, so you shouldn't have to return anything. Advise going on a weekday, first thing after checking stock items and having the free coffee.

Anyway, that's me - someone had to stick up for them.

I'll stick up for Ikea beds too! We have an Ikea bed and we've been really pleased with it. I think the range of mattresses is wide enough to suit most people's tastes. They are bigger than the UK standard sizes so you need to make sure it will go up your stairs!

we brought a king size bed from IKEA a few weeks ago and it is fine!! As somebody said its a few inches wider.we went for the top price mattress and got it for a bargain-whilst waiting for our goods at the full serve counter in IKEA's warehouse we had a quick peek in the 'bargain corner' and there was the same mattress we were buying-all what was wrong was that the packaging was broken and one corner was a bit dusty-no problem-so we got it for about half the price.....not bad.............

And IKEA puts it together right? I cannot even screw a nut and a bolt together...let alone following IKEA's renowned instructions. ;)

And can you check the stock on the website or do you have to call them? I don't know if all their beds are displayed on their website.

I also have an Ikea bed (had it for 6 years now) and its been the best bed I have ever slept in. Solid frame and a really comfy mattress. Excellent buy for us!
