Hi
Was speaking to another mum re packed lunches and she said she got a loaf and made x ham or chicken roll sandwhiches wrapped in cling flim and froze them, taking 1 out each morning for each child. Great idea, but I have 1 child who only likes banana.
Would it work?
Will be starting work ealier in Sept so need to save time.
Dread to think what the hubbie would put in!!

Here's a good one for you . When you see the young lads etc stacking the shelves in the supermarkts, ask them where the tinned bananas are:rotfl: When they can't find them, say you bought some last week and could they check, I do it when I'm bored (as you are) and even say they're in banana shaped tins :rotfl: :rotfl:
With regards freezing them........no idea !!:rotfl:0 -
Have a try today...then you'll know for defo.0

Hi,
I was looking on www.lunchinabox.net yesterday, the lady who runs it has a whole section on what can and can't be frozen in sandwiches, which can be found here - http://lunchinabox.net/2007/02/21/speed-bento-technique-freezing-sandwiches/. I thought it was a great site, i have found loads of inspiration, i'm going to start to freeze sandwiches for my LO. I freeze my bread but never thought of making it into sandwiches first, duh!!

Hi crockpot,
You can freeze bananas, see this thread:
Freezing bananas.
However I'm not sure if they would work in a sandwich as once they're defrosted they are mushy and discoloured and only really fit for using in baking. Hopefully someone will come along soon and say that I'm wrong.

Hi crockpot! Defrosted banana won't be good - it'll blacken and go mushy. How about freezing the bread and butter, then adding the banana fresh in the morning?
For the same reason, bananas shouldn't be kept in the fridge.

Will give it a try when i have some unfrozen bread, I bring it straight from supermarket to the freezer. Do not fancy freezing bread twice!
It`s mushy and brown by lunch time anyway!!
Any ideas what else i could give him?
He will eat ham, and did for 2 years before he went onto banana every day for 18 months!!0 -
I'd give him the buttered bread or a roll and pop the banana into his lunch box to eat with it.

He will not eat it seperate! but when he eats his tea he eats -tonight- mash first, then peas then sausages and does not like it touching!
was worried about austic tendancies, but he is just a boy!0 -
