O/S Daily Thursday 25th June 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning all
Thank you nmic for starting us off.
A lovely morning here, have just been for my walk, although it is a bit like an obstacle course because it is bin day.
We had a lovely day yesterday, good meal and good company and lots of laughs.
We have to pick up our prescriptions this morning and buy some fresh fruit from our friendly greengrocer. I fancy British strawberries and anything else which looks good. In this lovely warm weather I really ony feel like eating fruit and salads.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy but sun trying to break through. Air feels warm. Will see if there’s enough dirty washing to make a load.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was pork steaks braised in stock, which I then used to make the gravy in the pan on top of the hob – meat was lovely and tender, served it with mash, carrots, green beans, peas and gravy, ice cream for dessert. Tonight we’ll be having HM quiche (seem to have loads of eggs), and I have a small joint of gammon that needs using up, so will cook that and slice it, we now have lettuce in the garden that’s ready to eat and hopefully some HG potatoes, so will make up some salad and there’s coleslaw etc to be used up in the fridge.
Work yesterday was steady, we’re all of the opinion that the changes that will be taking effect soon, are the start of the end for our jobs – but I’ve been there so long I really want to be able to go with the maximum amount of years of service and it’s looking like I may just miss out, but I’m not going to leave – if they want me to go I’ll go but they can pay me the redundancy they owe me, I’ve got too many years service to throw away! We’ll just wait to see what happens – I’m quite happy to do any sort of work so once I’ve been made redundant I’ll look. If I could find something for a few hours whilst I’m still dong this job and I could manage the 2 alongside each other then I’d certainly think of taking something. (Local pub is a short walk from home and I know one of the ladies that work there, and she said they very often need someone, so that might be worth looking into). I’m trying not to feel to disheartened about it all but it’s hard when we’ve worked so hard providing an excellent service and winning awards for it now to be going in this direction – all because of government cuts.
I got the chores done I needed to after I got in from work yesterday – so today I’ll be getting on with more, I have a huge pile of ironing, but an empty dirty wash basket as I’ve been doing a load a day and getting it line dried in this lovely weather. I need to get housework etc done too I also have some admin jobs/telephone calls to make – so enough to keep me busy.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Dull and grey here, last nights rain was quite biblical, no wind, just rain and lots of it! Very muggy too.
Well, this is the last day of term - 6 weeks off from 1pm today, hope we have some sunny days in there somewhere.
The plasterer is still here, getting on slowly and surely. He goes on holiday on Saturday and then I'm away so heaven alone knows when it will get finished. I think I'll give him a key and he can get on with it.
Chicken stir fry last night, not sure about tonight, will look in the freezer in a mo. Washing fairly up to date and I even had a hoover round - did the car too!
Hope all's well with you, take care.0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful bright day here again off to work for me ( I seen to forever say that !) at the other site today so it will be quieter.
Walked round to mums for dinner last night its literally seconds to walk there ! she cooked up shepherds pie and an apricot crumble with cream, it was all delicious and it was such a massive treat not to have to cook, I washed up for her and cleaned the kitchen as payment
Dinner tonight will be something and chips will go and look in the freezer after this.
Topsy take it easy and I hope you recover well xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Sunny here today, so it will be hot in my room, I'll get the doors open as soon as I get in, before the sun hits the room full on.
We've had huge task dumped on us at work as some outside contractors are being let go & we've only had a couple of days notice, though the decision was taken weeks ago.
Time I set off, have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Good morning chums, sun is up already and looks like a lovely day ahead.I enjoyed my gentle stroll last night, and will have another today ,trying to get back to some gentle exercise.
Got just over two weeks before my 5k RFL. More of a wobbly walk than a race I think:) I have a route from my house that is exactly one mile and it passes some gorgeous gardens on the way. This time of the year with the roses out its lovely and last night the smell was great. My walk takes a bit longer than it should because I get stopped on the way by neighbours who want to chat and ask 'how are you' etc its lovely really but no good if your stopwatching at all before my op I had got in down to 18 minutes, last night ,including various stops to chat I was just over an hour:):)But its nice that fold are neighbourly at least,I shall have some coffee and once my DGD's car has been picked up I shall meander off for another walk. The repairers are supposed to be getting her car first thing this morning .It was a nasty knock she had last week,a chap ran into the back of her and I am so pleased no one was hurt, cars you can get buy 'Holly's' are not replaceable.
My sis-in-law from Faversham is coming mid-morning and bringing me some books (like I need more in my house ) but she knows I will find a home with someone, if not me for them.luckily I still have some choc chip cookies left for elevenses from yesterdays baking.Though I may make some more as they went down a storm along with the melting moments.nice and quick and easy to make.
Right time for some coffee I think
<<hugs>> to anyone feeling a bit low and poorly and anyone with a birthday hope you have a good one.June is nearly over where do the months fly by to.
Cheers chums JackieO xxx0 -

So pleased you have nice clean hands now Hester
camelot I hope you're OK? x
dumpling When we first got Scampi, he wouldn't even get in the car. A couple of times a day, I'd encourage him in with a treat, then we'd just sit there for a few minutes while I spoke to him. After about a week, I'd turn the engine on and sit in the front with him in the back. A few days later, we had five minute drives (I had to wait for evenings for this, I don't drive so mr tru had to do it). We don't go too far with him yet and I don't let him eat for a couple of hours before he has to go in the car, which helps. We can now go four miles with no problems, occasionally he manages six! candlelight I hope you enjoyed your day

topsyturphy I'm glad you're OK. Hope the sun shines for you xx
Well the carrots were in a very sorry state and only fit for the compost binI've filled the fridge with goodies – I don't think The Others care or even notice what it is, as long as it's edible, lol.
I have nice clean shoes, my herbs were looking a bit ropey so I've given them a bit of TLC, the greenhouse is tidy, electric usage has gone down (I didn't realise just how much the minis were using the dryer  ), my computer lead arrived after just one day even though it's not due til tomorrow, the laundry basket is empty and Scampi didn't bark at his enemyA lovely, well behaved westie but Scampi hates him for some reason

I haven't got much to do today, just fix miss tru's computer. I'll be reading and crocheting then

Good morning everyone
Hope you enjoyed your birthday MeanMarie, your evening sounded lovely Candlelight, many congrats on your anniversary.
It's going to be another beautiful day here today. I am up, showered and ready to face the day as I have a friend popping round this morning after she has dropped her daughter off to school.
I had a lovely surprise last night as my oldest and dearest friend came over unexpectedly to see me. We had a great old natter and drank a lot of tea. Her daughter is in hospital with pre eclampsia and she came to see me after taking her in. Her daughter was really hoping for a natural birth with very little intervention but unfortunately it doesn't look like that is going to happen . I'm just praying for a safe delivery for both of them.
My CPN came over yesterday as is quite happy with me so that's good. She hasn't referred me officially to the psychologist but has had a chat with him and he said he was happy to try and help. I really feel motivated to make changes so I hope this will be a good thing.
I am going to be making 'if it' for tea, as in if it is in the fridge/freezer and needs using up then that is what we are having. It is payday tomorrow so that will be great. I have booked a big shop for Saturday and we will be having a chinese for tea tomorrow. I've already had a tidy up but the bathroom needs a quick clean before my friend arrives so I will love you and leave you. Take care xx0 -
Morning everyone.
When I first woke the weather was dull and grey, now it's bright and grey. After a fine day yesterday the rain began in mid afternoon and then by bedtime it was pouring. Not as bad as what Camelot describes luckily.
This morning I have two hours of work and then shopping. I'm so pleased I managed to resist going earlier this week.
My new mini path is looking splendid but needs washed down. I can use my new garden hose. :rotfl: My body is a tad sore on the side I landed on yesterday though I'm pleased that I didn't hit my head or break a wrist.
Suppose I should get a move on now and start my day.
I hope everyone has a good day.0
