Adblock Plus on Firefox not working today

I have just noticed today that the Adblock Plus extension doesn't seem to be doing anything - that is it loads pages and blocks '0' items every time. Firefox has has an update recently (30 July) but ADP was working normally yesterday.

So Adblock appears to be disabled in some way - because although it can still list every item on a page by url etc it does nothing to block (or not display) any of these - which is pretty much how it's supposed to work.

Any ideas?

Try uninstalling, then reinstalling it. G

That hasn't worked I'm afraid. I've also disabled all other Firefox extensions running at the same time - just in case it is addon intereference - but it makes no difference.

I've just tried using the last restore point on my PC and this seems to have sorted it out. The Adblock plus was also removed in the process but I just reinstalled it from Mozilla. Going to the usual sites with ads it is now functioning normally and not displaying them.

The other only thing which appears different is that the most recent Java Update has become uninstalled (it now appears as a 'new update' in the icon tray and I had previously installed it.) Could this recent Java update have been interfering with ADP?

Could be, but I guess you'll only know for sure if you go ahead with the update & ADP stops working again. G
