Hi,
Last year, my application for student finance was declined due to not being able to satisfy residency criteria i.e. 3 yrs in UK before the start of the course. Although, I had ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) at the time of application, I accept the fact that I didn't meet those points because I was on 2yrs and running in UK at the time of application. I decided to wait one more year but then one of the advisor from SFE advised me to self-fund my study for a year and apply again for the year afterwards because I was really keen to get back into study.
So, I self-funded my 1st year of course and recently applied student finance for my 2nd year, found out yesterday that I have been declined again because of not able to satisfy residency period. I provided all the information they asked for such as details of the addresses I lived and its dates during the period of 1/9/11 - 17/5/12 (almost from 4 years ago).
Today, I rang them up to know the reason behind my ineligibility. They said because I applied for finance for a course (2nd year) which started on year 2014, they checked whether i was eligible at that period i.e 2014, which means in that case I will not be eligible as I mentioned above.
After speaking to SFE, I learnt that I am eligible and can apply for finance for any course which start from this year onwards except for the ones which started year before i.e 2014.
I am really upset and frustrated from the outcome as I won't be able to afford my 2nd year (1st year almost done & continuing) of my current course without the help of student finance. I don't want to take year off as I had a lot before and don't want to repeat as well.
So, is there anyway I can appeal against SFE decision and get favourable decision and get financed so that I can continue with my current course. If not, can someone please advise me some alternatives for a student who are in situation like me.
I would really really appreciate your help and suggestion.
Kind Regards,
Shasin

No, there's not. Unfortunately, the adviser from last year was incorrect.0
