11kv 33kv underground cables in property boundary

    DRP, the property is already extended on the side and there is no further room to extend to side. If at all a extension is planned in back garden than there is a scope to do it as the back cable(33 kv) cuts at the rear of the garden living some room(not being in 1.2 metres) for the extension.

    The only inconveniences are

    1. Cant plant big trees or build within 1.2 metres of the cables.
    2. Southern electric has right of way to enter whenever a repair is needed
    3. Having a feeling that the high voltage cables runs in property boundary.

    Just thinking whether the above inconvenience would be a deal breaker or I can live with it. Of course I will ask for some reduction in offered price.

    I wouldn't worry too much about this as although they pay a fee to you for their wayleave, the chances of any fault developing in a length of cable is minimal. Problems tend to happen at joints and junctions in the cable.
