Garden furniture protection

Hi, any recommendations in what to use in softwood Garden furniture. I was thinking of using cresote substitute but I realise it's available in brown finish onky. I can use it if it's the only decent option but my preference is to use something which is clear finish (not necessarily oil)... Ta

I don't think I'd want to sit on a Creocoted bench after it had been treated!

It's fine for my chicken houses, but I have a feeling that it could stain clothes for quite a long time after being applied-.

Creosote???? mmmm lovely if you fancy having a good sniff and enoying the effects.;) Trouble is, I don't think creosote is available any longer - possibly too many nans enjoying the aroma.
    Varnish it with matt varnish.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

OP and I meant Creocote, which is very definitely available.

Creosote is also available to those of us who are 'farmers,' but it's kept under the counter. I think the main danger is its potential carcinogenic properties; a risk few who mix it with used engine oil seem to worry about!

I use Danish Oil on my outdoor furniture a couple of times a year.

Bestwood was the brand recommended to me at the time and it works well, it's also food safe so you can use it when refreshing your wooden chopping boards.

Bestwood Danish oil Ebay 5l £31.95

It may be available cheaper elsewhere, but this is the stuff you want.

It's fairly neutral in colour and brings up the grain nicely. This table was done a few months ago and lives outside all year.
