Bit of a tricky one.
-Bought a sat nav from Halfords in store on debit card. It was on offer, the offer was:
Reserve online, trade in your old sat nav and get 20% off the new one.
-Went in store having reserved the sat nav. Traded in my old sat nav, got the new one with 20% off.
-Sat nav develops fault about a week later, its unuseable
-20% offer no longer running
If i take the sat nav back, do i just get the price i paid refunded? But then Halfords have my old sat nav which is long gone. Is that just tough luck?

they will give you a replacement the same as faulty one0 -
Do you want a refund? Can't you just ask for replacement satnav? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Ah...you don't like it? Garmin are no more or less reliable than other 'brands'. Perhaps you've maybe just changed your mind?0

Garmin is one of the best I have used, but regardless not liking the brand is not reason enough to return it unless you mean faulty and not that you just can't use it.0

Don't try to act intelligent it clearly isn't working for you.
I don't like it because the interface is slow, and in less than a weeks use it won't power from its inbuilt battery. If i plug it into its charger it powers on, then when it gets to the main menu it powers off and this repeats until you take it off the charger.
Sometimes the screen just shows weird patterns before freezing up again.
The instore staff will quickly see the problem, if they can even get it to power on.
Nice try :rotfl:0 -
Garmin doesnt have to use its own branded chargers
Then when it was working, why did it show an error stating, 'This charger is unable to charge the device, please use the supplied USB cable'.
So i plugged the supplied USB cable into the USB charge port and it still didn't work.
Absolute junk. I had a Nuvi 200w for 8 years until it broke down, would charge from any source and worked perfectly, now the company just makes junk it seems.0 -
My Garmin didnt come with a charger, just a mini usb to standard usb cable had to buy a mains/usb charger (99p ebay) or plug into comp.
Can we assume youve already contacted Halfords?0 -
From the information provided so far, all you've really said is that you have a faulty unit. Therefore you've not had a chance to determine whether or not you like it.
Take it back and get it replaced. (They won't try to repair). Then you should be able to try it out properly.
You could ask for a refund but it's arguable that you have "accepted" the goods so the choice of remedy (per SOGA) is ultimately theirs. If they do agree to refund then you are entitled to receive the amount paid plus your trade-in device. As the trade-in device will almost certainly be gone, you would be entitled to receive the monetary value they assigned to it (the 20%).0
