Equifax cancellation warning!

I signed up for a 30-day trial, read my report, and then called to cancel.
As part of the script, the rep mumbled something about a six-month extension that's completely free. He went on to say that they'll email me after six months to see if I wanted to continue.
From what I heard, it sounded as if no action on my part would cause no charge to my card. However, my cynicism antennae were twitching, so I asked, "What happens if I do nothing after six months?"
He then admitted that I'd be charged. Ouch.
I said, "No thanks." Sharp practice, IMHO.
