I have an HP PROBOOK laptop and want to watch American region 1 DVDs ages ago I remember getting a warning message on screen about a limited number of times I am able to watch region 1 DVDs .
Does anyone know if and how I can change the settings to allow me to watch them?
I no longer have the manual that came with the lap top and its a big pain to get any sense from the customer services as it's beyond the warranty period.
Thanks in advance

Not a big help but my brother in Canada has a HP laptop. Chatting to him on Skype he mentioned wanting to watch a Region 2 DVD on the laptop. He said if he watched it would lock to Region 2 and he would be unable to unlock it back to Region 1.
So if you have already watched Region 2 before I think it might be locked to that???0 -

I remember buying american DVDs from Amazon ages ago which gave rise to the warning message, so I must have changed the settings back because I've been watchin R2 DVDs since
I have no clue how I managed to do that. But the info in the post below looks v helpful.0 -

In the past, I've used DVD43. You just run the program, then any DVD app will read the DVD regardless of its region. Nice and simple.
I haven't tried the latest (DLL) version, but I assume it works the same.

Or you can simply rip the dvd convert the file if needed and watch with hardly any loss of quality.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”
