Freezing cabbage?

Hi, wonder if anyone can advise? I have just cut the last 4 cabbages from my garden, as they were starting to get attacked by caterpillars. I have cleaned them and chopped them up. We will have some tonight, but not 4 cabbages worth  I know it will keep fine in the fridge for a few days, in a plastic bag, but can I freeze it, and if so does it need to be blanched?
It is something I have never tried to freeze before, and I don't want to just experiment and possibly waste it, if I can take advantage of someone else's experience!
Thanks in advance

Just blanche in boiling water. Boil water in pan. When boiled, add cabbage. When it boils again remove cabbage. Cool. Freeze.
There's going fo be lots of. Bubble and Squeak0 -
I diced and freeze cabbage in a plastic bag without blanching.I pull a handful at a time out and throw into the steamer 5 minutes steaming and its ready to eat.Living alone I would be hard pushed to eat a whole cabbage at one time so this way I get what I need when ever I want it.
I have a small box of chives in the freezer that I chopped up and just froze as well.I used to blanche carrots but found it made little differance when cooking in the steamer0 -
after years of blanching both cabbage and runner beans - I found out you don't need to! honest! just cut them up and freeze them in bags. I find dropping them on the kitchen floor 'frees' up the contents if they all ice together.0

Thanks for your replies. I am going to experiment by blanching half and not blanching the other half, to see if there is any difference.
Thanks again

good idea Dawn - let us know if you can detect a difference! I didn't.0

Update on my cabbage freezing experiment - I tried some blanched, and some not, and can now report that there is no difference, at least if you eat it within a short time. Both are fine, cooked from frozen for a short time in a just small amount of boiling water. So, I shan't bother in future - just chop it up and stuff it into bags :D0

Thanks for reporting back that's good to know.
