How long should it take to remove the old wallpaper then paint the ceiling and re-paper the walls in a 7.5 by 4.5 metre L shaped room?

Number of rolls of wallpaper estimated at 10, 2 windows and 2 doors, the window frames and doors are varnished.

Allow a day to strip the wallpaper (although this can take much longer if it is multi layered or woodchip paper). A day to prepare the walls properly and paint the ceiling and a day, maybe day and a half to wallpaper.

I only have one layer of wallpaper in my bathroom, so far to clear 2 walls only has taken 24 man hours. Still 2 walls to do. Its not even wood chip, its just some awful flowery stuff from the 80s.

The question is...Is the quote on a daily basis or a fixed price job..."about a week " can mean several things.

From what you describe a week would seem a reasonable estimate....

I would ask that the job is quoted for a a whole and not on a daily rate as this can sometimes drag on.

Decorators in my area would typically charge £125 per day with materials on top...if your quote is around £400 then I would class that as reasonable...

You could of course save money by stripping the wallpaper yourself...
