Good morning! Just been told, by a friend, that he's giving me his 'old' iphone, as he has renewed his contract and got a new one! I've never looked at these phones, because I knew I couldn't afford one and currently use a Samsung, sim only. So my questions, if someone would '?be kind enough to answer for me. I presume it's an iphone 5??
1. It will need to be unlocked - do I need to take it to a 'specialist' to do this?
2. My friend tells me he's got 240 photos on there that he can't delete? How do I do this? Oh, and
3. Do I need to ask my friend for his 'Acivation lock'?
Thank you so much for any help - this is one of the times I wish I was at least a good few years younger!!

I guess your friend has to turn it off and erase all setting so that you could set it up again: https://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695?locale=en_US.
Normally people do a hard reset when selling or giving away their phones.0 -
I don't know about the photos, I would think it would be fairly easy to remove those with a reset.
Now make sure he removes FIND MY IPHONE if he has it and remove his iCloud account from his phone BEFORE it is restored to factory settings.
If he's already restored to factory settings and it's iCloud locked then yes you'll need his details for that.
The easiest way to unlock the phone from the network is for him to contact his provider.Anchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.
Thank you to all those who post competitions!:beer:0 -
I assume he means his photos are on the cloud?? but if you do a hard reset then that should clear the problem.Need to get rid of my Yankee Candle Habit, Not very money saving of me0
