Pub Nights Out - Help!

Hi all,

Sorry if this isn't the right forum.

Basically, by way of saving money, I have had a LOT of days and nights in.
I just find it 10x easier to save that way. I stay in alone a lot or have family or friends over.

Friday night is the first night out I've had since March (st. Paddy's day!)... I'm 26 lol.
It's my friends birthday and I'm going to join him and his friends at a local pub for the evening.

I've managed to wangle a lift there and back to save on cab fare, but how can I ensure I keep costs relatively reasonable throughout the night?

Please bear in mind, I feel like I'm getting cabin fever and a night out is well deserved! I've never been one to spend a lot on a single night out anyway, I was planning on bringing £50 cash with me and spending no more... but even to me this is a lot?!

Based in Surrey haha!

Any ideas/suggestions welcome!
Thanks :)

There's not as many of those type of clubs as there use to be. We had a choice of maybe 6 or 8 just in this area. I think there's only 2 left.

£40 should be enough for a night out really. Even in London where it is £5 a pint I don't usually spend more than £30 on drink. Average one drink an hour.
Maybe have a few beers before you go out so you can drink more slowly when out? Just go for drinks and eat at home before you go.
Suggest a Wetherspoons or another place you know that is cheaper.

But basically £50 should be plenty for a night in the pub.

Also ask what drinks are on offer. Sometimes they have house spirits that are, but I wouldn't mix them or it isn't good. Plus if you go in before 11 there are usually more offers and you generally don't always have to pay to go in. My mate goes around leeds often and sticks to the bars too to avoid entry fees

Get slaughtered the night before you go out on a cheap bottle of Vodka.

You will then go out with such a hangover you will only manage to drink half a pint all night.

It will be a lousy night / Your mates won't invite you again ..But you will save some money...

    OR ..

Better to just go out and think about enjoying this rare evening out ..try not to get stuck into rounds or buying shots for everyone and you should be able to come back with some change :)
