Best Way to Pay?

Options
Hi,
I'm about to spend £15K on a motor home conversion. I've done as much search as I can on the company but there is always a niggle that the worst can happen.

I have to pay half (£7.5K) up front and then the rest on completion.

I was wondering if there is any particular way that's best to pay for it (company doesn't take credit cards) that would offer any form of protection? I don't think that there is though?

Thanks

If they won't take a credit card, then I would find another company... one that does.
£15000, or even £7500, is a lot of money to risk, isn't it?

Sure is. The problem is though that in not applied for choice when it comes to conversion companies. Most of them a independent small businesses and don't take credit cards. It is a worry though.

Any reputable business, even one man operations, should be able to accept credit cards these days.
Yes, there is a cost, but that can be kept down by only paying a small amount on the card. You are still covered for the whole purchase price though.

There are a number of horror stories about van conversions on these boards.
    Here's just one thread:
    Take care.

    Horror story above.

I've just read the full s75 article and found that if I pay just a partial deposit on my credit card, that I would be covered for the lot. I contacted the company and I can do that. Brilliant, thanks for your help.

    All the best

Yes, that's what I wrote in my earlier post. ;)
