I have received 6 years statements from MBNA and discovered I am getting excessive charges from MBNA for Interest, payment protection cover and credit insurance fees .Do I really need payment protection cover and what fees can I claim back.
Many thanks

I'd post on the reclaim bank fees board, they'll be able to help possibly better:

But IMHO, unless you can prove payment protection and credit insurance was miss sold - i.e. you were unemployed/self employed(assuming not covered!) when you took the policies out - you wont get these back just because you havn't used the policy(thats like saying I've had house insurance for 25 years, not made a claim so give me my money back!!)

Interest - except possibly on charges - will also not be refundable.. it's more charges for late payments, going over your limit etc that are reclaimable.....i beleive..

I wouldn't advise taking payment protection. I made a claim and ended up worse. 7years down line and i'm still paying.... Hopefully with help of FO that may soon change.

Good luck in claiming your charges back.
  • Thanks everyone, I will cancel payment protection
