Equifax showing late payment from 2007

I was under the impression that any negatives that could affect your credit report were removed after 6 years. Equifax are showing a late CC payment from Aug 2007 on my report. The account was settled in Nov 2009

This is then showing as a negative attribute on checkmyfile.

I would post links to the images from the report but as a new user the forum won't allow me to do so.

CRAs show a rolling 6 years history until an account is settled or closed. Then that preceding 6 years history is basically frozen and shows for 6 years from the settlement date.

So it's possible that adverse markers can be showing up to 11-12 years after they occurred in some circumstances.

Does seem more than a tad unfair, but markers of that age are also arguably not going to have much or perhaps any impact either.
