Is this normal?

My buyer was contacted today for an update as the offer was accepted almost three weeks ago but no valuation appears to have been booked. He evidenced his deposit and his buy to let mortgage with Natwest at the offer stage (presumably AIP).

He said today that the surveyors were meant to be out today or tomorrow according to Natwest, my agent has had no appt booked and I've heard nothing. He said he was going back to Natwest to find out what was going on.

Is this feasible? I'm a bit green in this game so have no idea, the EA seemed to think it was a bit irregular.

    Could be true or he might be talking rubbish. Communication breakdowns (between buyer, seller, lender, EA, solicitor(s), surveyor etc etc) are a common cause of anxiety in property deals. All you can do is

    * be patient
    * be prepared for it to take longer than you expect/want
    * keep asking questions - but not so often that you become a pain in the backside yourself
    * be prepared to eventually give an ultimatum ("get the survey done/contracts exchngd by XX date, or the deal is off")
