Statute barred (scotland)

Hi There,
Just looking for a little help. If you dont want to read my life story just jump to the next paragraph. While at uni my flat mate took credit out in my name, I lived in Italy for a bit so I didnt know and he pretty much went to town on it. I now have 4 defaults on my credit report. After years of fighting with the creditors to explain and remove them they were having none of it, I even started fraud procedings against the culprit, however having a big heart and knowing I was going to live in Italy for 2 years I let him off instead of him being charged with fraud(as he WAS my friend that made a big mistake). However now I'm home and I need some sort of credit, mortgage, car etc.
My question is, all of these debts are statute barred (over 5 years,Scotland) and I have had no contact with them acknowledging debt or paying toward it, however they are still hanging on my credit report like a bad smell.
1) Should these fall off my report automatically?
1a)When?
1b)Why are they still showing?
2) If not, how do I go about removing them?
3) One of the defaults only appeared on my report two months ago already statute barred!!!! surely this is not allowed?
Thanks in advance for any help:beer:

Defaults remain on your credit file for 6 years from the default date in England and Scotland.
The fact that debts are statute barred after 5 years in Scotland, rather than 6 in England, has nothing to do with how long things remain on credit reports.
1) Yes.
1a) 6 years from the recorded default date.
1b) Not reached 6 years yet.
2) You will have to wait.
3) May have only just been linked to your current details, which can make things that exist but don't show suddenly pop up. As long as the default date is accurate and you are not prepared to dispute the validity of the debt then it has to stay until the 6 years is up.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the reply, that the first time someone has actually told me it would remain for 6 years, everyone else has said the would go after the limitations time, so much false info flying around!
The default dates are totally random, nowhere near the actual date they would have first defaulted, if that was the case 6 years would have well gone by now?
How do I dispute these dates?
Apologies for questions that may seem daft, my expertise is in physiology not finance...!0
