Another month and I cannot wait for payday - 11 days and counting! I have £40 that is not committed to pay a bill and I am going to try my damnest not to use my overdraft at all. It's a tall order as I will have to get some stuff for lunch and have an evening out planned but, I won't need to get patrol or do any major grocery shop so fingers crossed! It is a better position than the £5 I had last month for the week leading up to payday and an overdraft at £3,031 so progress there :j

Felt so low yesterday, really struggled to get myself to work and do what I had to do in general. I always worry that when those clouds come over my mood, I won't be able to lift them but when I walked the hounds in the evening, I bumped into a lovely lady and she shared some of her life story with me and the ease of conversation, realising I could be doing a lot worse and her kindness when she realised I was having a bad day, really lifted my spirits. Must make sure I let her know how much she helped me without knowing if I ever see her again.

Still no news from the insurance. Pension refund should come in this week so that will help the numbers a bit.

Working on having enough at the end of the month, after payday and lodger and garage rent, to have a new boiler installed. Really hope I can do it as I am hanging onto the lodger by my fingernails :rotfl: To be honest, I have missed having a bath, especially now that I am back at the gym. Nothing like a good ole soak in salts to ease those muscles and clear the mind.

If the insurance pay, I will replace the floors that were damaged, redecorate and replace the iron, vaccuum cleaner etc. If not, then not sure how I will sort the house out, maybe it will grow on me being as it is.....

£99 overdraft fees came out of the account today.

Making a note here as I want this to be the last time I get charged for a huge overdraft!

    Hi IWBF.
I always think getting out with the dogs makes you feel better whatever the problem is. The fresh air, exercise and bumping in to other doggy people just lifts your spirits doesn't it?
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you

Hey MT, you are spot on, the fresh air, exercise and meeting like minded people does me the world of good.

Having said that, Iwoke up with a stinking headache this morning. Not alcohol induced I hasten to add :rotfl:I went to bed with too many thoughts about debts, repayments, how to speed things up, how can I get further quicker and in the end, I think I overburdened myself I think. I must step back a bit and breathe........I am doing OK, just need to keep it up.

Just had a lovely lunch, some kind of mince conconction from the back of the freezer and some fruit. The fella is cooking tonight so it should be a no spend day :D

    Onwards and upwards!

Lunch time visit, whilst I am enjoying my prawn salad and listening to Dave Ramsay's podcasts.

Yesterday worked out well, no spend as predicted and a lovely evening with the fella. He cooked and took me out for a quick drink so thumbs up for him :T

Planned a no spend day for today too but I may go to a gym class which will cost me £7.50 I think. I will think about that as I am on a really tight budget until next Friday which is payday :j:j:j

Job hunting has brought up two potential jobs, but they are both a little far away (2 hour and 1.5 hour commute each way respectively) and the increase in salary wouldn't be amazing but may be negotiable. I am thinking of applying so that I may get the interview experience and to see what negotiations can be made. Will think a little more on that....

Instead of the gym class could you have a go at an exercise video on YouTube? I've done this before and quite enjoy making a complete fool of myself in the privacy of my living room with the dog laughing at me!
Have tried all sorts with varying levels of success :-)

Great suggestion MT and nice image for me - my dogs would be laughing too! :)

The sun has come out here so I think I will take the hounds to the woods for a longer walk than usual for a work night. It will do us all good to be outdoors for longer, whilst we can :)

    It's Friday :j:j:j:j

Had a great long walk with the hounds last night, so not spent a penny and we were all exhausted when we got home. They were snoring their little heads off before long :D

I started the week with £40 to last until the following Friday (14/8) which is payday and I am finishing the week with £44.22 :T I haven't spent anything and I closed a bank account that had a small balance so got that in my account. I am so chuffed with how the week has gone financially - I think I am finally getting this budgeting thing. Managed to avoid the coffee shops and other temptations which is great!

Now, evening out with the fella tonight. Going to the West End to see a play and although I got the tickets way before I got on the budgeting wagon, I will still have to contribute to dinner and drinks and of course, train ticket there. So realistically speaking, unless he pays :rotfl:, I will be using the £44.22 easily. It is a shame as I had really hoped not to use the overdraft this month but, if I do, it will be for very little and not the over £3K it got up to the last couple of months.

    So, I feel encouraged....

I am hatching plans to make offers that will ensure he pays for dinner and drinks ;)
