Cash in Greece

Hi all. We are off to Rhodes next Wednesday. We usually take some Euros and Sterling Travellers cheques to cash at the hotel. Old fashioned I know, but TSB offer TCs free and the hotel have no issues changing them. TheATM in the town rarely has cash in it normally, and I like the security aspect of TCs. So I see the advice…

Only in Athens last week, did I see cash machines that had run out of money.

The only problem we had was finding petrol for our hire cars. We hired cars on Aegina and Crete, and the first task with both was finding a garage that had fuel. On Aegina, there was only one garage with fuel on the entire island, and others were expecting deliveries later in the day, after 8pm. In Western Crete, the Eko and Aegean garages had the most reliable supplies.
