eBay Nectar Vouchers Not Working on Checkout

Hot on the heels of the CTWENTY offer not working, the new eBay offer of 50% back when using your Nectar Points is ALSO not working :mad::mad:
Trying to apply the voucher at Checkout will get you a similar 'The redemption code can't be used for your purchase' message that Users got when trying the CTWENTY code - except in this instance, there is no code to input, the Checkout just fails to use the voucher.

Confusingly, you are told on the 'how to use your Nectar voucher' Help page that you 'must use PayPal to complete your purchase' when using the voucher. This is correct (as I've used vouchers in the past) but what you THEN find is that you've paid ALL the money from your PayPal and none from the voucher.

My voucher should have covered the entire amount of my purchase, but instead my PayPal took the lot from my linked Bank Account.

A Live Chat with eBay acknowledges that they are aware of the issue, but they refuse to give any timeframe of the fix.

This is worse than the CTWENTY offer as eBay have taken money, in the form of Nectar Points for the voucher. Annoyingly they are STILL advertising the Nectar voucher offer on their website:mad::mad: How many other poor eBayers will be suckered in?

I've only recently tried Nectar Ebay vouchers, first use was fine (£22 purchase, £25 voucher), second use was not. Later discovered that, to use the Nectar vouchers, there's a minimum Ebay £10 purchase needed - so my second purchase, which was under £10, checkout would not use what remained of the voucher (about £3).

This does not apply in this Case - I was redeeming £127 in a voucher

More and more buyers on eBay Community now realising their vouchers don't work. Ebay have still got the offer to convert Nectar points to vouchers bang on their front page, which is sneaky to say the least as they know full well the vouchers are not working.

I hope that the solution, unlike the CTWENTY disaster is not to just walk away from the offer - I already lost out on CTWENTY.

I too have this problem I redeemed the bulk of my nectar points today to buy an item today only to find ebay system won't accept the vouchers. I spoke with ebay prior to my purchase to check it was ok to pay with vouchers if I purchased them today. They advised me yes. I am bitterly disappointed with ebay as they knew full well that the system wasn't working but never advised me. I now cannot pay for the item that I purchased and Nectar blame Ebay and Ebay blame Nectar but neither can advise when this problem will be sorted and as you say dollydiva they are still selling the ebay vouchers for Nectar points and they cannot be exchanged back. This is disgraceful.
  • This is very worrying indeed. Keep us updated with any new developments.

Worse come to worst - there are several actions that can still be taken - escalating complaint further within ebay, escalating it within Nectar, looking for help through companies that generated the most nectar points for you, forming a little pressure group on MSE, raising the profile of this case on social media and as points have monetary value even going to court. It would be interesting to check if it is possible to identify a real person within ebay (and/or nectar) responsible for this offer and perhaps contacting them directly (or if necessary their superiors).

Ebay might not have the best reputation regarding customer service but this particular situation is not something that cannot be easily fixed.

There are threads on the Ebay boards which an Ebay pink acknowledges there is an issue with some vouchers.

I'm interested on how you think "this particular situation is not something that can easily be fixed"?
  • Sorry - did not mean to confuse anyone with this double negative.
