Old Style Daily thread Tuesday 23rd June

O/S Daily Thread Tuesday 23rd June 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:

I got woken up with a savage bout of cramp in my leg so after wandering around the house stretching my calf I thought I would start off this thread to take my mind off it.

Thankfully I am in a much better mood today, I made it to my WW meeting last night and found I had lost 7lb in a week! Amazed is an understatement especially as I don't think I followed the plan too well but I shall take it and be glad. I'm especially pleased with myself as I managed to catch a bus home too instead of using a taxi. I know it doesn't seem like much but it's a huge achievement for me.

My friend is coming over today and she wants to take me out somewhere so I have suggested a trip to Westward Ho! to look at the sea. I feel very peaceful when I am at the seaside and it's my favourite place to go. She is happy to do that so I will pack up a few bits for a picnic a bit later on.

Well, I hear movement upstairs so I will go and make a cup of coffee for him. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Morning everyone.

Another glorious morning, hope it bodes well for the rest of the day.

Dumpling - congratulations. Seeing such a huge loss will work wonders for your motivation and mood. As for the sea, I moved us over 200 miles to be by the sea and often sit and watch the tide come in and go out and find it very restorative too. I'm sure it'll bring some peace to you.

Think I'll continue in the garden today. After the mowing I now need to go round with the strimmer and cut the edges and round the black elder. There will, no doubt, be more sticky willies (thanks Camelot) to pull up and snails to relocate. And general pottering whilst the plumber fixes the tap to the wall.

Porridge for breakfast and something with eggs for evening meal.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Morning everyone

Thanks for starting us off Dumpling.

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, cloudy and overcast. Have a load in WM to put on line shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was smoked sausage and mushroom pasta, strawberries for those that wanted some. Tonight we’re having fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. The hairdresser is coming over tonight so dinner will be a bit later.

Yesterday work was quite quiet for a Monday but the weather here was rather strange from very cloudy, overcast, windy and cold, to sun and feeling warmer and a few heavy rain showers thrown in – feels like we had most seasons in a day! Supposedly it’s going to be better today and throughout the rest of the week.

Still have a few items in boxes from the yard sale on the dining room table, I need to wrap these items and get the boxes put into the loft, will try to do that tonight when I get in from work. I’m working at my normal office today and not the other one in the next town.

Keep safe and well x

Morning Everyone

Have fun with those sticky willies Gers!
JackieO, hope you hear some good news very soon.
Dumpling - Huge congratulations all round, what a fantastic weight loss and a great result getting on the bus, hope this has lifted your spirits.
Meanmarie - Sounds like you had a great time.
Csarina - Hope you're on the mend.

The sun is splitting the skies here, it cleared yesterday lunch time so we had a good sports day, glad it's over as the parents can be a bit of a pain.

Just working till lunch time as DD and I are attending the funeral of our friend this afternoon, the family asked me to make a pot of soup for visitors to the house so we delivered that yesterday along with some bread rolls, just happy to be helping in some way.

The living room ceiling is down! The chaps seemed to shut themselves in the room, even the door had masking tape round it so there isn't any dust to be seen anywhere else! We have the settee and tv in the kitchen - a bit like caravan living!

Have a super day, take care. XX

It rained on & off a lot yesterday but brightened up after 3 o'clock so I hung some washing out & it was dry by bedtime.
I have woken up exhausted, I spent most of the night dreaming about a bank robbery, I still haven't worked out whether I was masterminding it or foiling it.
Well it's time I set out to the soapfree & dark place known as work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:

Good luck with your op topsy xx

dumpling Brilliant :T

Butterfly Brain That's interesting about your (non) berries – there's no damage to our plants and they look healthy, just no fruit at all.

Camelot I call them sticky willies too :D

I've caught up with the garden. A couple of old pots are starting to crumble and the half barrel suddenly has bits of wood falling off it. I don't want to do anything with them at the moment because they have flowers growing in them but when they've died off I'll have to have a good sort out.

I've shifted most of the yarn, the last few bits have been put into wicker drawers and turned to face the wall, lol. Not ideal, but it doesn't look too bad – the back looks pretty much the same as the front, just with an extra black bar running vertically and no handles. It'll do for now.

I've given up on miss tru's PC – I can fix it but it'll mean losing all her photos, etc. I need to order a lead so I can connect the hard drive to my laptop to access it and save her stuff, then I can reinstall Windows for her. She's managed to break her phone, so I'll be connecting that to my laptop too, to save her photos. I don't know how many times I've said back up your stuff! But does anyone pay attention? Nooooo :D

Morning All :hello:
Thought I would poke my head over the fence.

Still try to read daily, but don't always succeed.
csarina Hope you are OK, and the pacemaker doing its job. Time for DH to look after you me thinks!
MrsLW Sorry to hear about Docky, but know he had a good life with you. Tried to post at the time but signal was against me.
Elona Thinking of you, hope you are doing OK with the paperwork, and keeping busy.
HH I would suggest you show the dimness of your room to the Elf & Safety person!! ;)
LW Skye sending you a big lick, we had her beauty treatments done yesterday, so she is cooler for summer if and when it arrives.
Dumpling Congratulations on the weight loss, and catching the bus. Sometimes just being aware can help the weight situation, onwards and upwards. As for the sea, I am with you there, I alway say it is like a Cadburys Caramel moment, (Remember the add where the curtain rail relaxed when you bit into one).
Jackie-0 Good luck for the RforL, and a quick recovery from your op.
Molly Hope you are feeling good after getting your pinta.

We had a brilliant 10 day break just outside Skegness on a caravan rally, just been home for 9 nights, then we are off again on Thursday, but moving around the UK this time Banbury, London, Cambridge, Naseby, back home late July :o Hoping to spend some time with DS & DDIL while in London.

Still ongoing saga at the dentist, back again later today, to check the crowns/bridge stable enough for my hols as gum still shrinking, but the pain point still there (just under my nose!). Think I may be asking for a referral, and compensation shortly, as removal of a good tooth hasn't fixed the problem. Also seeing Osteopath for my back, and there earlier than the dentist today. Falling apart at the seams seems to come to mind. But they are niggles in the scheme of things, still OK overall, and able to do most things I want.

Will try to poke my head in a bit more, just got a £12 a month Unlimited Calls/Text/Data from TTalk, so that should help. Just wish Vodafone was a better signal at home.

(((Hugs))), Spoons, Positive Vibes all round. Take care everyone. DG

p.s. tru It might be easier to buy a case for the HDD in the pc, then plug it into yours and get anything she wants off before rebuilding it, I find the data transfer faster that way. Have your tried Reflect for making a good backup of a clean PC before data added to speed up if you need to do it again.

Hi everyone,

I've been having login problems so I've not been able to post. Worryingly the admins sent an unknown user name to my email addy, but it seems to be sorted out now.

Busy here at the mo. Spent the weekend in Yorkshire where DH and two pals did a 32 mile walk on Saturday, I kept busy ferrying them food.

I'm off to London today to see DD who is still having neck problems, she has managed to get another appointment with the neurosurgeons, last time they didn't have a copy of her MRI scan so this time she will take the copy she paid for. She's had to take some time off work which she hates but I've told her not to worry about it because stress makes her neck worse.

DS and fianc! look like they've found a venue for the wedding, near Perugia, we just need a date now.
