Hello folks,
I live in a studio flat on the fourth floor (top floor) of a flat.
I need to replace four windows, two side by side on adjacent sides of my flat.
The dimensions are as follows:
Side 1: H1800 x W2600 and H1800 x W500
Side 2: H1600 x W500 and H1600 x W500
I will need two sets of scaffolding up and have been quoted the following by Anglian WIndows:
£2250 for the windows and £1250 for both sets of scaffolding. Total: £3500.
Its much more expensive than I expected. Does it sound reasonable to you?
Thanks.

Anyone got an answer?
I'd be really grateful.0 -
Difficult to say, but you should certainly get a quote (preferably two) from a local independent installer.
Scaffolding might mean full scaffolding or it might mean an access tower.
In a flat you will need freeholder's consent to change the windows.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Thanks for getting back Owain.
I have share of freehold so should be ok.
£3500 is the cheapest quote I have so far.
I was hoping someone would tell me if that was reasonable or not.0 -
Wickes would not be my choice for windows but the small windows you mention cost around £100-£150 there. The bigger ones would exceed £350. But your windows are bespoke hence the need for proper quotes and not the Wickes catalogue.
The rule of thumb is that nobody goes to Anglian Windows. Their reputation for quality and for fitting is not good, neither is their price structure.
Scaffolding is also bespoke as are London prices!
If I were you I would be getting an all in price without being charged extra for scaffolding.0 -
Thanks for your reply Furts. The cheapest quote I got for scaffolding is £700 for each side of my flat. That's a total of £1400, so £2100 for the windows and labor.0

But remember that windows can be removed and installed from inside the room. You may be paying for scaffolding that is not required. Hence my comment about getting an all in price.0

Thanks Furts, however as I'm on the 4th floor of a small rise flat every company I've had a quote from has insisted upon scaffolding.0
