I've done temping for data entry... I have a reasonable typing speed and fair accuracy when I apply my mind to it, it's brain numbing, dull, you have to have a GOOD typing speed and be accurate.
Would I do it again... nope I'd rather clean public toilets to be honest
You end up feeling like you have a hangover at the end of the day and you back and neck che as you forget to move enough... DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

How do you find jobs like this? Definately sounds interesting.0

I used to do this ages ago [about 4 years] and it was looking at prescriptions that had been scanned by doctors [I think] and just ensuring that all information was properly recorded. From memory it was about £5 per hour [in Edinburgh 4 years ago] and we all trooped along to a building in town. If you have an ipod or similar you could just listen to music whilst you did the data entry. Was pretty easy but I agree, still neck and arms etc..
Stay away from Washington Recruitment - I just found they had a great 'data entry' job in Edinburgh and it turned out to be nethomeworkers scam! I did a little research and also phoned them and I had to ask the guy three times if I had to pay anything before he finally admitted yes, you had to pay for 'training' which is just an e-book. So don't go there!0 -
If you are referring to the adverts that tell you that you can earn money for data entry and all you need is an internet connection then don't bother. It is a scam.
They will ask you for a small fee for "training materials", which will just be instructions telling you to place identical adverts.
There is no job, the only money you get will be from people who fall for the same scam that the person who advertised did originally.
These adverts are all over the net and some of the advertisers are now getting so desparate for cash that they are only charging a couple of quid for the training materials (when I first saw them they were charging £25 quid).
And if you're wondering how I know this - my brother used to work for Trading Standards and had to investigate one of them.0 -

I've been looking for some extra part time work and I am getting absolutely sick to death of these adverts. Local jobs websites are full of them :mad:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Looks like they've got to the saturation point that all pyramid type schemes eventually get to.
Aparantly, the adverts themselves (if they are worded correctly) are legal, but would you really want to make an income from scamming people?0 -
thanks imoneypop, uve just saved me a tenner..
this is getting rather frustrating! all i want to do is earn a few extra honest quids.. and all that i can find are scams.. red squirell im with u!0 -

Here are lists of local data entry companies not sure if its of any help to you.0 -
If you have got the time to spare, then you could do genuine data entry with an agency - I did about 10 years back, 4-8pm, £5 an hour (would be more now I'm sure) for First Direct when I lived in Leeds, processing the info on application forms (God, that was before internet banking - how old?!).
There was also a post very recently on here about doing part-time deliveries for DHL, which looked like a genuine opportunity.
I'm just getting into matched betting, which is the opposite of the data entry - it sounds like it should be a scam, but it actually works, and much easier than part-time work as there's no set hours or commitment. There's loads about it on the gambling loopholes board on here if you haven't already tried it.0
