All,

From past two years, we are looking to buy a family home in Aberdeen,Scotland. We went to see new build property over the weekend and have 10% discount on the property. When asked they said there were some reservation cancellation due to oil & gas market slow down. Similar property with the builder is marketed at £425k.

We then worked out our finance and found that we cannot afford. They have come back and said that they will consider making some discount and offer for other property but not this one.

They were not pushy or chasing us to by property in any way.

We have two options.

1. Either buy the property valued at £425 at discount offered + negotiate further
2. Buy the other property they are considering with some offer.

As a big fan of MSE forum, I always think buy what we need not what we desire. Option 1, if materialized will gives us good equity but space is much more than we are after.

Option 2 , if materialized will be correct size we are after .

Other MSE savvy guys, which option will gives us a good return?

Thanks.
